Yes it is split at the top...and rusted out too. I am moving this question to the exhaust section now that is an exhaust issue! (see my resonator post)

well, I had it at car-x and I dont know what brand they used. I wanted to have the cat, as it is the law, and it contains the O2 sensor at the end...so this avoids getting a bung put in something, though down pipes are avail with O2 bungs.
In retrospect, I wish that I wouldnt have had it fixed, and that some evil doer would have "stolen" the cat...then it would have been an insurance claim to replace it. Those darn evil doers...you just cant count on em. Woulda saved me $750. of course I am not suggesting that you "steal" your own cat...and scrap it...then turn in a claim...that would be insurance fraud.
But with the replacement...she runs like a scared dog now...and after the cat...I took Cowboys advice...and had a glass pack installed in place of the resonator (keeping the stock muffs)...and added a little tone to it...so we are sounding good too.

That has happened around here. It's been a while since I heard about it, but they went on a spree in one area/neighborhood around here. I guess they used a cordless sawzall or something?
