Default Junkyard find :)

I was amazed to find this sitting in an (01?) Grand Prix today at the junkyard! Unfortunately I didn't have the right tools with me to pull off the Coils like i wanted to, but I was wondering what other parts I could pull off of it? Throttle body perhaps?

I'll be going back tomorrow to grab those coils before anyone else does! Need to know if anything else is worth pulling off for my 3400 engine, or if anyone else needs anything off of it let me know, I'd be happy to pull it off if you cover yard and shipping fees. I also found a nice 32v Northstar caddy in there, I believe the TB on those are valuable for 3800's?

I'm eventually going to do a top swap... preferably a gen V. Let me know if you find anything for that and what kind of price I'd be looking at

I SHOULD throw a set of L67 coils on my dad's '02 LS. The junkyard I go to should have plenty of them and they're pretty reasonable. Barring unforseen circumstances, the car will eventually be mine someday anyway.

Why would you guys need/want L67 coil packs?

If you really wanted to you could pull lots of stuff off that motor. The heads, supercharger, valve covers, LIM....If you put the time in you could have a full top swap kit ready to be sold. The alternator would be good too for some Monte owners that are going to top swap or intercool because the connection is in a better location.

L67 coils produce a slightly hotter spark and are more worth while picking up in a salvage yard then throwing money away on MSD or Accel coils. The L67 coils use the same ICM and wires as the rest of a stock L36. And the L67 coils work on the L36, the 3100 and 3400 (I have them on all 3 of the cars in my driveway, the Monte, the 3100 Grand Am and the 3400 Impala).

As I understand, the L67/L36 throttle bodies don't fit the 3100/3400. Basically the coils are the only other drive train option. BUT, some people might be interested in everything from the heads up for a possible top swap.

Unfortunately my car is only a 3400 otherwise I'd probably be pulling everything off for a top swap myself.

Thanks for the reply Maniac, too bad the TB won't fit mine. I'll definitely keep an eye out for more L67's and pull the coils off them when I can though

What do you think the coils are going to do performance wise? I guess I don't understand why you would want a hotter spark than stock? My main point is I really don't think it's going to be a gain.

hotter spark= better combustion. think of lighting a cup full of compressed gas with a gril lighter, when turned down, it wants to blow out and not work well, but when turned up it is very consistant and produces more of a bang!
