well that sucks....never ran into that myself, other than if you can get a special helicoil kit that can handle the extra space, i'm not sure what all could be done with it... worst case scenario i guess you could get a used head... car-part.com has em as low as $45, but having the work done is where all the moneys going to be spent if you cant repair your head.

Im going to try re-helicoiling it tonite and see how that goes, i have a feeling it is going to work.

Worst case scenario like you said i will have to either have my head machined or get a new one which would probably be cheaper, and then the rest im assuming would just be labor.. but we will get to later if my helicoil job doesnt hold(should know in a few hours)

first off if you paid a shop to do the work i would be all over them for thier poor job,
Seciondly you can also do some checking in your area and see if they can redrill and tap the head to abigger sized bolt and then replace it instead of useing the helia coil. this will also help in the future for other repairs in that same area.

AND the last thing I can think of and most likly what i would be doing .

Go to the bone yard and find a new head. and then take it in and see if they can plain it and make sure it is stright and also mise well have them polish it etc... to give ya a bit more getty up.

Hope all works out for ya but i would defently say if it is not the rocker issue it is a bad gasket job causeing it to suck air .

It indeed was the rocker, wish i would have gotten pictures,, but the bolt from the rocker pulled out due to what i am guessing was a bad helicoil job... I removed the old helicoil, bought a new rocker/bolt, re-tapped the threads in the hole and inserted a new helicoil... i stated it up and let it run for about 10 minutes with no more noise. Im going to drive it all day tomorrow to make sure it is in proper form, but it looks like a good sign so far.

awesome, thats alot better than if ya would of needed to put a head on. overall sounds like its been a major hassle, but atleast the fix wont break the bank. not to say nothing could still happen,*crosses fingers* but if something was going to happen, i think it would of gone almost imediately. glad to hear its fixed.
