The 3400 is 3.23 gears, the 3800 is 3.29 and the 3800 SC is 2.93 gears! And the gear differences go on in other GM cars and mini vans. From what I understand.

 

I have a 2005 SS / SC and I "thought" mine from factory is 3.29 according to my hpt tuning program; however, the post above is correct; I have a "Drive Sprocket Ratio" of 1.121 and I have to divide 3.29 by my sprocket ratio & the results are 2.93...

If you can afford about 2 weeks of downtime (for shipping) you could send your PCM off to have it reprogrammed for this. I have hpt tuners (would cost me $50 for the credits to save changes to another pcm) Professional tuners wouldn't need this, or "the maniac" has DHP which doesn't require credits.

This tune adjustment should be really straight forward... IMO $100 - $150 should get you exactly the tune you need...
