Matt (PacerSS) this is really getting involved but it's great info, I have another question. Is "false knock" or KR only in the supercharged cars? Thanks for your great explanation.....

No it's not, it's in all cars. Well I should say all newer cars with PCM's and the like. It's more prone to happen to supercharged cars though as their operating temps and boosted combustion can result in more knock. But N/A cars get it too. It's the evil that all tuners battle in order to get the most HP out of their cars. Generally in terms of normal knock, not false knock, it's an indicator that your Air/Fuel mixture is too lean. When it comes to false knock, like I said, it can happen to anything for a plethora of reasons that aren't engine tuning related. The battle is determining if something is false or real knock that can be a pain sometimes.

No problem, any time I can help I like to do so. There was once a time where it too was all Greek to me. And sorry twfurst for getting your thread off track there.

No problem, if it results in someone gaining knowledge its all good. I'm relatively new to the 'new' way of hot rodding. Until this Monte, I've predominantly worked on carbed V8s and the like. So I'm learning some new stuff along the way too.
