Fluid is just where it should be, not burned, looks good... So, hope it's "Just" the selenoid.. Thanks for the help...mjclemm..

"67,000". She doesn't drive it that much.... I just happen to drive it the other day on the highway, (she never drives on the highway, no speeds over 50mph) so maybe that's why she said she never heard the engine /trans do that before. Car drives GREAT under 55 (unless it needs the OD). DAMN ! Thanks for the help... Mjclemm..

I will look into that ASAP... Is that a hard part to replace or strictly a pro mechanic job ? Thanks for the input n help, I'll let you know what I find.... Thanks again, mjclemm...

If it is the problem, it requires lowering the cradle so you can remove the side cover. Hopefully the code has been set and it is the solenoid. If not then (being it is an '01) it might be the dreaded spline shearing of the 4th gear hub.

No problem. Unfortunately, when there is whining involved, it's not likely a solenoid. Hoping for the best.

Still looking into what it is... Just blows my mind that it drives absolutly PERFECT around town.. (As I said, she NEVER drives highway, so this would not have happened to her). But I'm glad I drove it to notice there is an issue before we had to drive it on the highway...
