Which Harness Should I Use, L36 or L67?
01MoneyCarloSS: Issue car wont start. you have a 2004 engine and trany.
please tell us the following...
-which PCM is in your car right now. the 2001 N/A or the 2004 SC
-if you have the bin file changed in either PCM and what it is set to.
-which harness you have on it currently? 2001 or 2004
From the sound of it, if you have the 2004 pcm and your old BCM (body control module) and the vin #'s dont match then it wont start. solution is to get the BCM from the donor car, or have someone program in your Vin to the 2004 pcm. since you now have 2 pcm's you can mail one to someone and have the vin changed if you dont have or know of a tuner in your area.

Which means you have to delete a bunch of O2 related codes or modify the 2000 harness for the new O2 wiring (if you are running an 04+ BIN file)
If you are using L67 injectors you had to either splice new connectors onto the harness or get adapters to go from the L36 injector plug to the L67 injector
Did you add the wiring for the BBV or simply delete those codes as well?
To the OP, I would recommend you have your VIN programmed into the 04 PCM as there is a good chance the 04 BCM won't have matching options programmed for your car (and if you have a factory radio, it will have to be reprogrammed for the 'new' VIN). The 01 PCM may or may not be compatible with the BIN file from the 04 SC PCM, so you would have to do that research. You can have your VIN programmed by someone with a DHP PowerTunr, an HP Tuners (unlocked or w/ enough credits), or by sending it to a company that does PCM work (Overkill, ZZP, Intense, etc)
EDIT: I see you are in Detroit, get on your local Grand Prix club forum and ask for someone to help you program your VIN into your PCM. I am sure someone in your area has a tuner
So in a nutshell, I would recommend the 04 PCM w/ the SC bin file and your VIN programmed into it, your original BCM, and the 04 Monte SS SC engine wiring harness

2004 S/C Harness & PCM.
2001 N/A BCM
I did nothing to the bin file. What ever it was set to from the factory is what it still is.
"From the sound of it, if you have the 2004 pcm and your old BCM (body control module) and the vin #'s dont match then it wont start" CORRECT
I talk to the guy with the donor car, he said I can get the BCM tomorrow morning.

Didn't delete any O2 codes or modify the harness there at all. I run an emulator for the rear O2 but other than that I don't see why you would need to modify it. Since all O2 connectors are the same I believe the part numbers are the same too although I may be wrong there. As for the injectors yeah I did have to put in new drivers. And no I don't use the BBV at all, just run it on vac and leave it unplugged and deleted the codes.
The 04+ use a different O2 heater circuit (00-03 are always on since their negative terminal is ground, 04+ ground terminals are PWM driven by the PCM). If you have a pre-04 harness and an 04+ PCM, you have to delete the O2 heater codes or add wiring to prevent a CEL. The 04+ O2 sensors are also different (fast response w/ larger heaters) and one of them (can't remember which) has a different plug
Are you sure you are running an 04+ PCM and didn't delete codes (since the O2 simulators don't work on the 04+ Impala/Monte PCM without throwing a code either) or did you just import tables from the 04 BIN?

It's a hybrid file, I know it's an 04+ PCM with an 04+ bin obviously. But the tables probably were transferred over. I deleted alot of the rear O2 codes a long time ago so that's a possibility. You're way more technically advanced than I when it comes to coding, electronics, and wiring so I'll say you're probably right.
PacerSS - if it's a hybrid like FastEddy or one of those guys do, it's actually a 2000 BIN with tables and other bits pulled in from the 04 BIN, hence the reason you aren't haven't O2 issues and the simulator actually works...
If you swap in the donor BCM, you will need to do a Security relearn, have the donor VIN programmed into the factory radio and probably have the VIN set into the SDM module (airbags). Also, if you have ODB-II type emissions testing in your state, you will likely fail because the VIN won't match the VIN on the car...
I still would suggest sending the PCM to have the correct VIN programmed into it rather than using the donor BCM
