Default Gen V - Cammed - E85 Build Begins

Just began a new build, right when I thought I would steer away from Montes.

Going to be a Gen V, S1x, Lightly ported heads and e85 build.

This will max out the stock heads and give me a chance to upgrade heads in the future.

I just picked up the Gen V today, N*, MAF and adapter are on the way.

Still not sure what I'm going to do for the motor. I may be going with an L32 or jumping straight to the L67, it all depends on what I can find.

Here's what I have right now, this blower was in a fire, not warped, everything is cosmetically okay and there is zero play in the pulley and the pulley spins freely. Still even about 95% of the coating on the rotors.

I'll be updating like crazy, should be about a year long build tho, taking time with it

I'll either get an L26, L32 or L67. Would prefer L26 or L32, but we'll see.

This thing is cleaning up quite nicely, I don't have much for wire wheels on my dremel, so it will only get better once I get some of those in.

@TMoney - I think Mitch is building himself a new motor, sourcing parts a step at a time to have a modded motor instead of a straight swap. I've seen the 3800 blowers on 3400's (not sure how well they work, they definately don't look right with the hood cut open).

@Mitch - Nice start!!

I paid $200 for the Gen V and LIM.

Also have a Northstar TB on the way along with the Gen V to Northstar adapter and LQ4 MAF

I have experience with the L36, L26, and L67... the L36 was my original motor, and after going turbo it chipped 2 pistons about 8k mi after install. The L26 was in my car 3yrs and ended up blowing up as I was racing... looked like I had afterburners for an 1/8 mi or so. The L67 is my current motor and seems to be doing the best... I acredit this to lower compression. Although I do notice that my spool times are not as quick as they were with the higher compression motors.

Point being, L26 have a terrible reputation for failing/weak connecting rods. A lesson I learned the hard way, and it broke exactly as expected.

L67 - best
L32 - good
L36 - maybe
L26 - no way

If you are having that many problems with your turbo and the blocks, I might have to attribute it to the tuning and not the block itself.
