Default flat and exhaust bank question 3.4L

On a 3.4 in a 96 z34 what exactly is a flat and its location and what bank is the exhaust

I assume you are talking about the flats on the cam. They are flat spots machined into the cam for when you need to time them. There is a tool that bolts to the head and holds the cams stationary by clamping down against the flats. The exhaust bank is the outer cam shaft on each head. The inners are the intake cams.

Yes you hit it right on the head i was going too come back and be more detailed with the question thinking no one would understand i but you understood it the way it was thanks you have been a great help....... man i love this site
