I'm sure you are, but I have heard nothing but bad things when it came to the cartuning kit for the 3800

I was dead set on getting the cartuning kit for the longest time...I was told by a few (BBengineer,Helldorado) that I should look at the ZZP kit, and BOY I'm glad I did...

From my research on numerous sites, and numerous w-body modders, it looks as though the overall kit isn't that bad, but the customer support afterwards, especially of there were any issues was pretty much non exhistant...Basically once they have your money, that's the last you hear from them.

This took place mostly by people in the states, it seems for some reason, Canadian Customers (I believe where they are based out of) have had better experience.

Not a major issue if your initial install and such has no issues, but a major issue for lotsa people obviously.

Since doing research, I decided to go the zzp route, and I'm glad I did...I'm not knocking cartuning, as I had no direct coctact with them, all I will say is just do your research on all turbo options/companies before you take the very expensive leap...

Miller in your case, the options for the 5.3 are very limited so no real research is needed, it's either cartuning or a very custom job.

I am not a novice mechanic, but I had MANY questions about my install. I called cartuning maybe 60 times over two weeks and I never had a problem getting in touch. When I did my research, I came across a couple of customer service issues that were pretty old. I did have to do the research. I could not afford to shell out that kind of money with no Canadian version of the BBB. I looked VERY hard at them before I went that route. I guess that I'm one of the lucky ones?

Price and user reviews is what has me leaning for the ZZP Z3 as well. I guess you truly are one of the lucky ones. Hey to even have a turbo'd LS4 you are pretty lucky

How much do you think it would cost for ZZP to build a basic turbo for my car? If the Z3 is already as basic as it gets, I won't even bother asking them abou it. And the Cartuning turbo is MORE than either of the ZZP turbos so that's completely out of the question. If honestly looks like a quality turbo.

Montess2k, you know exactly what you're talking about with the kids wanting to go fast for cheap (including me lol). Which is why I think alot of the kids at my school drive cheap ricers then brag about them.

Miller, if for any reason you're getting rid of your turbo, and it still works just fine and there's nothing wrong with it, can you please let me know? I might be interested in trying to get my crummy teenage hands on it.

Thanks everyone!
Tyler

ZZP won't build you a custom Turbo when they have turbo's for your car haha.

Also, Miller's turbo is for the LS4, which you don't have.

Another theory is that typically when companies come out with a new product, they are really good with customer feedback, taking the time out to answer questions, just to get the word out...then after a while when lotsa orders come in, and they are making a good ammount of cash on a product, greed steps in, and there support for the product fades fast...then a new platform comes out and they start the process over and over again....(APS Twin turbo kits, Hennesey Motors, and even cartuning come to mind)

Most likely you are one of the few, perhaps only one that has an ls4 turbo...

Regardless it's just good to hear everything is work smoothly on your car, hopefully if others decide to go in the cartuning direction as well, they will have similar experiences.

I hate to be even more of a downer, but you may need to save even more then that...our transmissions aren't really known for holding up well under lotsa power...so you may need to have that done as well....which could cost as much if not more then 2300....There are rare instances where they do hold up for a while, just not sure if you want to chance spending 2300 on the turbo kit, doing the install, then having your transmission blow up, rendering the car useless and not having the money to do the repairs on it....

Lotsa things to consider.

100% agree. I have seen way too many problems with the tranny to believe it is a coincidence. They are just NOT BUILT FOR POWER.
