engine swap
I have an 02 ss. I bought an 05 GTO almost a year ago. My ss is no fun to drive in comparison. Because of this, and I don't want my ss to collect dust, I sent it to the shop to get a custom paint job. I'm adding some twin hood scoops, and a two tone paint job to match the interior, custom exhaust tips, and borla mufflers. I'm also removing the molding and ss badges, and having the badges hand painted and enlarged. I will add the programmer and exhaust cut-outs. I would like to put a northstar v-8 in it. Does anyone know if it will fit, if not, what kind of modifications I will have to make? And what do you think it will cost me. Or should I just add a turbo with 12 pounds of boost or a supercharger?

RE: engine swap
You're right. Maybe I should just sell it. The amount of money it would cost to boost it might not be worth it. I just can't get over the new front end. It doesn't have that mean look to it anymore. Also I like to customize the exteriors of my rides. I'm not ready to spend that kind of money AND get a new whip. The custom shop its at said they can add a 12 lbs. Boost turbo, timer and all the necessary upgrades for a little less than 5k and I'll get around 400 hp. Is that worth it?

RE: engine swap
I'm no really sure what you meant by that reply. Can you clarify what you meant by "I'm not really sure you can get a new monte carlo!" I apologize if I'm wrong, but it sounds like a dis, and maybe you were offended by something I said!

RE: engine swap
It's all good. I just think the price difference for a new v-8 is too much. I paid 25k out the door for mine new. I would imagine the new V-8 sells for over 29. I saw an LT for 27. Add customization to that. Its not worth it. I don't think the new model looks better than the old one. Just the engine. I'd rather spend 5k on engine mods, or $3,500 on a new engine and install it myself if it bolts right up.
