EGR problems?
Well, I tried to install the new egr valve (which costed $181 within the city of CHICAGO). So i went back to the garage and took off the old one and installed the new one. What my monte did was stalling while idling (basically like I had bad gas or a muffler or something). So, I took the part back off and inspected it, which it seem alright (to the untrained eye....lol). Replace the old part back onto the engine and the monte was running fine. I was scratchin my head like "dang, this part cost this much and not working propertly, oh hell nah". I took it back to the auto parts store and they ordered another part for me to pick it up in the morning. Now, when an egr valve is installed, does it suppose to run your engine like dat? I am lost at how it was running. Even with the old part, my monte was running perfect, but when I installed the new part on, it wasn't running right. WHAT IS WRONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG.....LOL. Any help, I will gladly appreciately!
Yes, indeed Gents, that was a defective part. I installed the new one today and it is running fine. The check engine light went out and now I am ready to go to the emmisions test tomorrow (after I get off work of course). Installing that part was very very very Is easy.
I had probelms with the Check Engine lite coming on & off. I found that the EGR "U" shaped conecter hose was old and would close - not allowing any airflow (or very little). My engine would idle rough and I would get error codes for various spark plug misfires (esprecially #5 & #3).
