Default Edelbrock Carb problems

I got an 84 monte carlo with a gen 1 355 built pretty good and an eddie avs carb on top. The carb works really good except when i mash on it real quick the engine seems to die then a second later picks up like a bat out of hell and goes. Why does this happen? I know holley have the power valve but im not sure what edelbrocks have.

That is why I don't like the Edelbrock Performer carbs. I have two almost new ones that have sitting on my shelf for over 10 years because of off idle bogs or when I would get on it. I think if you go to Edelbrock's site, they have some info on different problems with the carbs.

i remember hearing from someone that they disliked edelbrock carbs because most were built from almost the same design as the carter, which was mostly used on mopar muscle cars and were notorius for problems. the carter was also used on the '65-'66 buick GS with the 401ci engine, and had the same problem with bogging down under hard accereration and around tight cornering.

sounds like the problem you are having, perhaps you could find some info relating to the carter carbs & problems they had it would apply to your edelbrock? good luck figuring it out... although i would probibly spring for a re-mann'd holly....

Those Edelbrock/Carter carbs suffer from air leaks at their base due to improper gasket placement/bad gaskets. I had a Carter 4bb that gave me fits on a 350 due to leaky gaskets and the problem never went away completely.
