cone filter, other ?'s

cone filter, other ?'s
hey guys i have a stock 99 monte carlo ls 3.1 .. im new and i was jsut wondering, would it b good to jsut take out my stock airbox and put on a cone filter or would i b required to put on a total intake system? or would i just be better off getting a replacement airhog or K&N filter?
-also-
if i did jsut get a replacement air hog or K&n filter would it come close to the noise increase or performace of a cone filter?
another question ... are hi perfromance spark plugs or spark plug wires gunna do nething for my car rather than the stock stuff ?
any other ideas to help spruce up a not so amazing vehicle as far as performance in the lower money range i would appreciate it ..
if ne of these questions sound really dumb .. sorry ... im new to cars (im 16) and monte carlos ... thanks for any input

A CAI kit would be nice, but I simply removed allot of the plastic in the factory airbox with a Rotozip and replaced the factory air filter with a K&N. Big time improvement.
I did this mainly because my car is still in warranty and I did not want to raise the red flag is something should have happened to the motor.
New spark plugs will do little to nothing in regards to HP gains over stock plugs unless they are in need of replacement.
