What's the best way to clean your engine? Since I know some parts can't get wet, any suggestions? I wanna maintain it clean n not let it rust and fill up with dust n dirt

rain blows up in there... just don't spray water on teh spark plugs or the ingition coils... or fill up the intake box. Otherwise, you're fine.

Personally I take the extra couple minutes to cover the alternator and a few of the connectors that are right there. I just use aluminum foil and cover some of those things. Then just be cautious of where you are spraying, don't flood electrical connectors, etc.

I spray the whole emgine down with Simple Green and then use HOT water. Let the Simple Green (I use 100% concentrate) soak for a bit, scrub the areas where it needs it. Then blast it with the HOT water. Then I usually take it for a drive without the engine cover on to heat everything up and dry it out. When I get back I open the hood for a while. It will look awesome when you're done.

I use foaming tire cleaner on the covers. I take them off while cleaning the rest of the engine and spray the foam on them. By the time the rest of my engine is clean, the covers are clean and have a nice gloss on them.

here is a post I made in another thread

1. Spray down the whole Engine with Degreaser or All Purpose Cleaner. Meguiars Detailer Brand works fantastic. Some people like to spray down the engine with water first but that dilutes the cleaner more.

2. Get some brushes and scrub out areas that are really dirty but try and touch everything once.

3. Do not let product dry keep it wet so you may have to work fairly quickly. You can always add more product to keep it wet.

4. Hose down the whole engine area.

5. Don't forget under the hood.

6. Start the engine to make sure everything works and close the hood so its sitting on the latch, not fully closed so it can air dry as well.

7. Let engine run for about 10 min.

8. Let air dry for another 20 min. 30 min total.

9. Wipe away remaining water.

10. I like to use Meguiars Detailer All Season Dressing, just spray it all over the engine area to all non painted areas. You do not have to wipe this product off it will dry to a shiny Finnish. If you want a more of a mat finnish wipe off residue after a few minutes.

11. Apply a good Sealant and then a good Carnauba wax to all painted areas, or if you have any chrome or aluminum ect.. apply a chrome or aluminum polish followed by a Sealant and a Carnauba wax

12. Your done!!!

I'm with MAMONTE - Simple Green is a fantastic degreaser. Spray it on a cold engine, let it soak a minute or two, and rinse it off. If your engine is just dirty, not too greasy, you could dilute the Simple Green some - maybe 50/50.
