Default chevy 307 motor?

i can get a hell of a deal on a 4 bolt main chevy 307 V8, all i have to do is put my heads and intake on it. would this be a better motor to build than a 305? i know 350 would be best, but i cant really find any cheap enough. i have heard that these motors are good to moderatley build, i dont want a hardcore 400hp street/strip car, probly just put an edelbrock carb and intake on, a nice lopey cam, and the dual exhaust i got. this car is gonna mainly be a cruiser more than anything, with the "occasional" burnouts and maybe donuts.

It's neither here nor there in my opinion. It was produced in the late 60's to early 70's and it replaced the 283 I believe. If you can get a deal on one and you feel good about it, check the bottom end and make sure that it's all good...look it over thoroughly and I'd say go for it if everything checks out.
