Check Engine Code P0742 TCC Solenoid Stuck On
My check engine light came about a weak ago coming from Iowa so I went and had it checked out my Autozone and the code they gave me was P0742 which is my torque converter solenoid stuck on. I was wondering how much does a repair like this normally cost?? Should I go to a CHevy dealer or transmission shop? and should i replace the solenoid by itself or get a whole new valve kit put it??? I heard of things like Lucas transmission oil will help but is that safe instead of replacing the solenoid???

Well I ended up having my entire transmission replaced because of that little code. I replaced both solenoids and still had no luck. A seal in the transmission went out and was sending transfluid into the side cover area and shorting the solenoids out. With 85K miles on the trans and the costs of the repairs I opted for the new trans.

Hopefully it's just the solenoid, just be prepared to pay a lot in labor
Although it's easy to replace the solenoid
It's just difficult to get to it, you either need to pull the engine/tranny, or lower the cradle and drop the tranny
