Default changing the carburator on an 86 MC SS

I have an 86 Monte Carlo SS, mostly original. The catalytic converter was removed several years ago and I am going to install true dual glass pack exhaust in the near future. I don't think that the computer portion of the carburetor is working and I am considering changing carburetors. I was wanting some advice on installing a different carburetor and some of the hurdles I may encounter. I have a 200R4 tranny that shifts real well and I do not want to mess that up. I was also wondering what it would take to fix the computer portion of the original carburetor? What are some of the common problems and solutions. Thanks for your help.

well if your going with a non CCC-carb you will also need to get a vacuum advanced HEI distributor.and a lock-up kit for your trans.
but if you want to keep your ccc carb and there is noting wrong with them. get a good rebuild.talk to cliff or sean. about what you have and what you are looking for.
