Change transmission fluid for Montecarlo LT 2006
Hi,I am new to this forum.
I bought Montecarlo LT 2006 couple of months ago and this is my first car.
I went for oil change and the mechanic recommended to change transmission fluid as well.
My question is --
1.What is the best way for replacing transmission fluid? and the type of fluid that suits my car?
I heard that the performance of the vehicle decreases if transmission fluid is replaced by flushing it out.I am not sure if this is true or not?If this is true what is the other way to change the fluid?
I really appreciate your suggestions!!!

On to the point of the post though, I just did a pan drop and filter change two weeks ago because I had some burnt fluid and it definitely helped.

If a trany hang had regular fluid changes and the fluid breaks down. When the fluid breaks down the friction material on the clutch pads comes off and is suspended in the old trany fluid. If you flush the trany you end up removing most of this friction material. Without it the trany will slip. Game over.
