change injector o rings on 03all monte now getting p0205/p0300 code. help
Alriggt guys i need your help on this one.
2003 Monte Carlo 3400 series.
For a couple months i been having s strong smell of fuel in the engine bay. I finally got some time to remove the upper intake manifold and check the injectors. I replace both upper and lower injector o rings on all injectors as two injector had bad upper o rings. Put everything back together along with new upper manifold gasket.
Now after i start the car it idles a bit rough but when accelarating their is one cylinder knocking noise. Im getting a P0205 and a P0300 code.
All help is appreciated to get this vehicle up and running.

I don't have time to read all the data in the shop book about both trouble codes, but it's looking like an ignition/misfire type problem right now.
This is my thoughts from skimming the information about the trouble codes:
- Possible bad spark plug (if you have about 100,000 miles on them, replace them just for maintenance sake, use AC Delco or NGK, stay away from BOSCH plugs, change the plug wires as well).
- Possible arcing issue (at night, with the engine running mist water from a spray bottle on the coils and plug wires, look for signs of electrical arcing).
- Possible bad injector
- Possible bad coil
Again, this is just from skimming the shop book data (not a complete reading of it).

i was thinking that maybe the wiring for injector five must of not clicked all the way and its sitting loose causing those codes.
Before the mechanic work, all injectors were working fine with the exception of fuel smell which is why i just replaced the worn out o rings on them. now that i have everything put back together i got these codes.
I used teh RTV silicone that came with the gasket packet which i knew i shouldn't have used it incase an issue like this came up. i really hope once i remove the top intake manifold that the gasket will stay in one piece or there goes another 50 bucks for another set of gaskets which i don't wan to spend.
Does anybody have a diagram which shows which injector belongs to cylinder 5. i'm taking a wild guess and guessing that its the rear middle cylinder but could be wrong until i follow the spark plug wire.
Also what i'm hopping is that the injector wire didn't go bad i.e. inner wirring broke within hard cover.
My luck, i was hoping for a painless fix and get the wife car up and running asap.

do you guys think that it could also be the injector itself? I'm debating whether picking up a voltimeter and test the injector ohms or swap that cylinder 5 injector onto another cylinder, reinstall everything back together to see if the code jumps to a different cylinder.

This should be pretty much the same as my 03 Monte

Funny on how this illustration they placed the 2003 motor with the transmission facing towards the rear

but the 2002 motor illustration is showing it is sideways lol

There is a (blue) locking clip on the connector that must be in the up position when it is installed. Then it is pushed down to lock. The #5 injector is on the front rail right as you view the engine standing in front of the car.

03SSLE - According to the pic from the shop book, I believe the #5 injector for a 3400 is on the back side of the engine... The below pic is outlining the plug wire connections to each cylinder.
