No way, dang that bites. Hope you had some fun pulls before it failed. LOL, this sucks but it is just the nature of the beast we modify. It is always after your wallets contents... Money money money

My Monte is in the shop getting some fuel related mods done. They did a tranny service last week and what is in the bottom of the tranny pan, you guessed it parts that don't go there. So now my tranny is being reworked, new clutch packs for 3rd & 4th and a few other parts. This will be my 4th tranny, last one only had 10,000 mile on it. So in perhaps 60,000 miles with the turbo set up, the original failed and now three times after that. Broke (snapped)3 passenger side HD axles, Broke an Intense racing LSD, now have had the GMPP LSD for about 3 years. Now also have chipped gear teeth on the differential spicer gears which we think was caused by snapping the axles. When will we learn to take it easy.. NEVER, to much fun romping about.

My Montes private name is "The Bitch" as it is always giving me fits. Publically it is "The Devils Guard". It is a moniker from a very tough group of Soldiers who called themselves "The Devils Guard"

Cannot wait to see what name you feel fits your Turbocharged Monte. It can be a struggle to find the right one, I tormented over mine for weeks, nothing seemed to fit very well. I don't want Monte Carlo SS on my window as that is already on the car in 3 other spots. Take your time, have some Tejas Tea and let your creative juices flow. Sorry about the tranny issues already.

Are you trying to find a LSD Torsen Differential? You know it is extra nice to have posi-trac with all your power. :dri vin:

Sounds like you have the correct attitude and are not stressing so very much, as these things will always happen. Time becomes a blur...

You can name it "The Devils doings" and some graphic decal with it.

I remember you asked me about the LSD last time, and I forgot to ask about it. Hadnt considered it because I didn't know much about them before you mentioned it. Which do you have? Can you tell a major difference? Did you change your downpipe? Want to change mine out for the zzp setup with the high flow cats. Don't want my car to be annoyingly (is that a word? *shrug*) loud.

That is the problem. I thought mine had been damaged recently from snapping 2 axles off in it. Fortunately it was only the spicer gears that were damaged.

Looking about for another one, there was only 1 of the GMPP Torsen LSD's to be found. And the seller wants a premium for it. Back in the day they sold for about $1600 from GM, mine cost about $2400 which I thought was spendy. The one available now is for $6500...
Should have bought a dozen of them back then..

Guess one will have to keep their eyes open for a de-modding car.

Yeah, I gave up even looking for one because I know how crazy they are to find, and I'm not even near wanting to rebuild yet.

The bad thing with these cars is that there never was much of a market for an LSD. A lot of people bought the old, poorly designed clutch type ones hoping it would help them at the drag strip and it really didn't. Basically as many of the top 10 1/4 mile cars had a stock HD diff as those that had an LSD. What made it worse were all of the issues from poorly designed LSD not working well and dumping trash into the trans that seemed to permanently taint the market.

Certainly they would be more beneficial for those autocrossing or road racing their cars, but this platform is so poor for either application that almost no one that I've seen ever seriously tried to compete.

The GM torsen is a nice piece, but it just came out too late IMO to take off in this market (not that GM ever intended for their racing parts to be an aftermarket cash cow anyways). It's hard to sell a $1500 diff when the value of the cars start dropping to only a few times that amount.

Wonder how long it'll take me to break something else after the rebuild with the TEP kit🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔 Dont plan on taking it to the track and racing, maybe a little street racing every now and then. (Disclaimer: i cant be held to any of the previous claims)
