hey all. my 03 ss wont start up.when i turn the key all i get is a ticking sound.i have to pump the gas and turn the key until it starts and then it is fine.any ideas on what may be the problem?please help.thanks.

 

The only time I've gotten a ticking noise when starting the car is when the battery died.

But, if you're having to prime the fuel by pumping it, like was done in old cars before fuel injection, then maybe your fuel injectors are bad.

 

The clicking definately sounds like a battery that's about to be completely dead. Get a new battery ASAP, and don't pump the gas too much. Don't want to flood the motor.

 

Yup, bad battery or connections, also check alternator output (with a known good battery in there) possible low fuel pump pressure if you still have to pump the throttle
