I have an 85 Monte Carlo LS that wont start. Now I'm a pretty good mechanic and I have an idea of what happened but I want opinions incase I'm wrong. I have 3/4 tank of gas, so I know it's not that. It worked fine yesterday but I got home from work and today I went to start it but it just cranked, didnt start. It was raining out, which I had a problem with a Corvette that when it rained it wouldnt start because of the starter. And I do hear what sounds like arching. Also I sprayed some WD-40 in the carb to try and get it to start, still nothing.

 

Is it making a grinding noise? If not, it's probably not your starter. Check the fuel pressure.

 

sounds more like its from the spark end of the starting process. sounds like you might be getting moisture under the distributor cap

 

i replaced the radio and changed the ignition. i programed the ignition. it turns over and runs for a second and then stalls. there is no security light on. what could be the problem?

 

mooke46, it is considered bad etiquette to ask questions about your car inside another persons post. I understand that you are having a problem with your 2002. Maybe you should start a new thread so that others may help you.

Kensai, why did you use WD-40? Do you think that you aren't getting fuel?
