Default Bizarre..

I completely forgot about telling everyone about my ZZP visit's Knock Problem...

After multiple pulls on the dyno, the guys determined that our knock sensors are OVERLY sensitive, and not normal for a 3800. So they changed some parameters, and sensitivity, and my knock went away, kinda. Though my KR says 4.3, it really is only a 1.3, according to GTP standards... and I only get a blip at around 96 MPH..

Okay, anyways

So I figured if I changed my plugs, and widened the Gap, the KR would completely dissappear..

NOT SO. I went from 104's gapped .51 to 103's gapped .56. Still have the same amount of KR, to the TEE. So that tells me that I either have false KR, or something is up. I am going to try to find race gas monday, and run a 1/8 tank and see how it turns out...

Anyone else have any ideas? Otherwise, I will just be letting you know how things go on Monday (first day off in 9 days =)

is it possible that you might have a bad sensor? I dont know much about it, but can you explain this?? Though my KR says 4.3, it really is only a 1.3, according to GTP standards

Well ZZP was tuning my car, and said that people with LESS SUPPORTING mods than what I had for a 3.4 was seeing no knock at all after the tune. But I was running a 3.5, and after a tune, with headers, a TB, etc, was still seeing 4.3 degrees of knock, with little to no ignition advance... So after 2 hours on the Dyno, they came to to conclusion that our cars are overly sensitive for knock. They said that about a week earlier they were having the same problem with another Monte...

Hmmm that makes me feel better in a way as my KR is not as bad as I thought.

Dan, Try 103's. I did, and though this writeup says I still get knock, with the 103's, for some reason, the first night,I got alot of knock. After that, gapped to .56, I have had minimal knock.. under 3.5 now, at WOT, at 106 MPH. =)

I'm getting some knock at WOT, so I figure the best way to get rid of it is with an intercooler and power log manifolds or headers.
