Question Back with a tranny question

Hey all, been gone for awhile had a lot of things to do with work and all but now Im back and gonna start workin on the Monte again.

My mileage is starting to get up there and I found a good L67 for a great price that I would like to drop in. Ive read through both of the swap posts, but since they're for 5th gen, I wanted to double check. If I swap out my L36 for this L67, complete engine (hoses, components, pcm, etc...), Is the tranny going to have to be swapped too? I saw one of those stickys said yes and the other didnt mention it. And the shop where Im getting the engine said no it would bolt on, just would have to swap out the radiator. So decided to come to the pros. Also anything else that would be different in the swap? Most likely going to have a shop do it but I dont want any surprise calls saying they need this part or that part. Thanks so much

It will bolt right up to the transmission you have right now. The only bad thing is that the transmission you have now is not as beefy as it should be for a boost application. As far as the radiator I think the L67 is only a little bit larger than the L36. I don't think you would have to swap the radiator at all but if you have it then I would. How many miles do you have? You could just do a top swap and you would have a high compression block with the L67 top end. That is actually what I am doing right now on my L36. Here is a link with good info:

I was looking into a top swap but thats about $1300 without installation. For the L67 I found its about 40,000 miles and they only want $600 for it, $900 installed. My time is real limited right now so I probably would have to have the shop do it. My engine is at 151,000 right now

$1300 if you buy the parts off ZZP or some other place. But since you have a limited amount of time you probably don't want to source the parts to do the top swap, it may take a while. I found all my stuff for $450. Try this site to find a motor in your area. The deal above sounds good depending on what kinda miles are on that engine you are getting:

Yea comparing to those other engines $600 is good. Well I guess Ill go thru with the engine swap then. I had the same guys swap my 305 engine from my camaro to a 350 HO and it ran like a champ.

I actually think you should buy the low mileage L67 and use it as a top swap donor for your car.

As far as the tranny is concerned there's really no difference between the 4T65E-HD and the plain 4T65E in L36 cars except that L36 cars have a better gear ratio, better torque converter, but they do have the lesser differential (which is really the only the better about the HD trannys). Whatever you do though will be better than stock
