They are getting harder to find a with most cars unless they are considered a collectible or more desireable such as the camaro's and firebirds etc. etc. but there are parts out there, the hard part is knowing where to find them. There are a lot of aftermarket vendors that still sell the parts and sometimes you can find them at dealers, but at dealer's you pay full price.

You could try gmpartsdirect.com as their prices are generally pretty good, but I am not certain what they have for 3g montes unfortunately

Wich carb do you recomend??
I went to the Crane website and found this:Products > Automotive > Camshafts > Ch. 262-400 V8 57-87

Chevy V8 for 57-87. You'll want a hydraulic flat tappet

Carb would depend on what you want to do and which intake.

if you don't raise up the comprestion to at least 10 1/2 to one you'll never get to 300 hp. with aluminum heads. i don't care what these guys say. an 8 1/2 compression eng. isn't going to make 300 hp unless it's turboed or supercharged. comp. makes hp. without it you're peeing in the wind when your putting in an aftermarket cam with alot of lift and duration .your taking lowend hp away from the eng.

More lift wont mean more air into the cilinders and so on more compression??

How does other 5.0L naturaly aspirated so much HP without being turboed?

any alum. headed eng. will have over 10 to 1 comp. see an alum. head can get away running this much comp. were as a iron head would det. like hell. the 5.0 eng. you are refering to are alum. headed engines. my 07 avalanche has an all alum. eng. with 330hp.comp of 10.5 comp. with everything being computerized and i can run it on 89 oct fuel. my 66 fury that has 10 to 1 comp. will det. like hell on 89 oct. no alum. heads. the duration on a high lift cam is what brings the comp. down at low rpms cause the valves are open longer at the same time so the eng. can't make comp. that's were you that funky idle everyone likes.
