RE: addin some power
i have a 1999 monte carlo z34 with a 3800 II. I want to give it some more power and maybe add some style to it. any ideas would be much appriciated!
The engine/transmission has a lot of options- you can take it from your stock NA ~160whp setup to a 500+whp 10 second car if you put enough into it.
As far as appearance goes, there is one full body kit available, a handful of ground effect packages, obviously rims, spoilers, etc etc.
But without more specifics, its hard to point you in any direction.

RE: addin some power
well i want it to still be street legal and my budget isnt huge but i can put a good amount of money into it
Also, it would really help if you had a general range of what you're looking to spend- a good amount of money to a high school student could be $1000. A good amount of money to someone working a real full time career job could throw $5k+ and not think its crazy- too many different possibilities without being more specific.

RE: addin some power
ok well i plan to put most of the money into going faster so i dont end up looking like some young idiot who has a nice car thats all show and no go. i work full time so i would say that over all i would probly put $4000 at about the limit. im not totally against going over that but i would rather keep it under 4.

One option would bea used turbo kit, and saving the rest for tranny mods.
The other option would be an L67 top swap, which could be done for about $1k- do a cam, IC, and some headers (used if you can find them)- for another $1500-2k, then a smaller s/c pulley and save the rest for trans mods.
Its kinda up to you how labor intensive you want to get- but if you do it properly, $4k should get you over 300 whp- at which point you do need to be thinking about tranny upgrades.

go to www.zzperformance.com under grand prix, under transmissions
if you just do a straight IC turbo kit- you should be ok, but just realize that the more you get into modding once you're boosted- the shorter the life of your stock trans.
I will tell you the major problem areas with big power 4t65 setups are the input shaft and drive chai.
