Default 95 engine swap

I have a 95 with the z34 3.4. I found a 97 3.4 long block crate motor and one of the "parts pros" at my local autoparts store said they may not exchange. I want to put my intake, coils, etc on this other block, is there any problem with just stripping the stuff off my 95 block to go on the 97 block?
Any comments would be appreciated.

The pistons, heads and intake are all different between the 95 engine and the 96-97 engine. The old heads will bolt onto the newer block but it will change the CR. Raise it I believe. I dont know if the valves will clear the pistons since the reliefs in the pistons will be cut differently, but its still possible it would work.

If you have the entire 97 engine, you should drop it in and do and OBDII swap. That way you will retain the better heads/intake from the 97 motor. Find a 96 Z34 computer and engine harness. The 97 ECU/harness will not work since 97 Z's use a different trans. The swap isnt too difficult, you may want to read up on it tho. You need to swap a few pins in the engine harness connector to get it to work.

Go to this site and search for the term OBDII swap in the DOHC sections. You should find all the info you need to do the swap. You will see it will be a much easier alternative to tearing apart the motors and swapping parts.
