Im new here and I need help my 04 engine in starting to go our so instead of spending the money to get it rebuilt I want to swap the 3.8 to the 5.3 v8 from the 06 and in just wondering is it going to fit note i'm not doing it just for power but because my engine had 104k on it and I found a junk yard with a 5.3 with 26k on it out of a 06 for only 1100. If it will than I can kick off my SS project. All help will be appreciated

It can be done, just alot of work..

 

A lot of work may be an understatement, you have to swap the cradle, engine, trans, most of the interior parts, it'll take time but it'll also be worth it

 

I have a shop that's going to install it for me I just didn't want to buy it and not be able to fit .ya know

 

Have you gotten a quote? I wouldnt be surprised if it costs 3 times the engine price, plus you haven't even added in the interior stuff yet.

It's an awesome idea, I'm just trying to show you the other stuff that's involved also

 

LOL if a shop had to do this swap, I could see it costing over $4,000 easy.

It's not just an engine swap, it's pedals, clusters, dashboard, wiring fixes, computer changes, BCM change, programming, etc. etc.

Swap to the Supercharged 3.8 instead if you want to swap.

 

mayb i can get the engine overhauled or rebuilt?? What are some mods i can do for the monte because all aftermarket places here say they dont have anything to fit it.

There is SOOO much you can do to a 3.8 engine.

You only have 104k miles? Man, I'm at 165k miles and I've been boosted for about 25k of those miles. And yes, the sky's the limit mod wise for 3800's. Way easier to modify then the 5.3L LS4's.
