If it was MY?? Monte?...I would swap in a set of 3:42s in the rear, if you are going to do ANY extended highway driving...cheaper than swapping in a 700r, and you could sell the 4:10s to recoup some money.

If you drive the car a LOT..4:10s get pretty expensive after a while..gas mileage wise.and the buzziness of the engine.

I am putting in a set of 3:42s in my 86 SC..just for that reason..

My last build I overdid it with gears..4:56...

3:42s would be mY choice..you have a nice motor now, it would make your car more versatile...imo..

That's a good idea i was looking at that honestly it was more toward 3.73 gears but i've read thats not much difference from 410s and from other research i found that with a 700r with a shift kit would be able to handle gears even lower than 4.10. at high rates oof speed

Also with my mechanic originally being specifically a transmission mechanic will drop the 700r in for $200 but soon i plan to get a trans cooler with thermostat fans, and and performance radiator so with that and the 700r you think i'll be over working the engine still?

I mean i don't do much driving period, well i drive everyday but only to and from school as of currently which is less than 5 miles away from my home with occassional cruising, no highway thus far but i just want to be able to atleast travel 90 miles without having any over heating problems

I appreciate your input thanks

If you have the bucks, a 700r is a great idea..continually upgrading.
Fans, rad thats what its all about??

I am all about enjoying my ride, and after MANY! years..lol..I have learned NOT! ...to overcam, overcarb, OR! overgear..and making the car basically undriveable, due to worrying about gas mileage, or breakage.

After much deliberation on MY! part, my plan of attack for mine, is a "mild'..big block,..bigger trans, and either an 8 3/4 Mopar or 9 inch Ford.

But the 3:42s will give me a bit of pep...in the meantime..with the stock 305 4 bbl, with duals..
Your car should be fine..if you do all that you say you are gonna do..
Good luck

Thanks for your knowledge, experience and opinions I'm still pretty new to the car game and anything and everything helps, i think i'm just gonna play it by ear and just be patient and watch my gauges and pay close attention to my ride and i think i'll be fine from the sounds of it. Thanks
