Default 502

I just bought a 84 Monte LS. I want to put a 502 in it. Does anyone know if it is possible and what it takes to make it fit.

Wow...that's a monster engine! I used to sell cars...I got an '88 Suburban in on trade one day. Completely overhauled and had a 502 which filled up the engine bay. Also got about 6mpg. While it was unstoppable, it sure didn't get very far.

Why the 502? Have you considered a small block stroker 383?

Yes, it can be done. There are several BB Montes on www.montecarloss.com so a search there should get the details for you. With stock height valve covers, its a drop in from what I recall reading.

Your 84 Monte would be an SC, the LS didn't start until late in late 86.

With the right intake it will fit under a stock hood. At most, I have seen a small 2" cowl on BB Monte's...

Here's one example with a stock hood:

Sorry, forgot those links won't work off site - but you can go to montecarloss.com and its in the 84 SS exhibit. Here is another example however:
