Interesting post. Why do you need new exhaust work if you add a turbo?
And how much has to change? I'm looking at intake/exhaust as my first mods, but
would like to add a turbo later; do I need to wait to do the exhaust till after the turbo,
or are there some exhaust pieces I could go ahead and do now?
Thanks.

Cold air intake, U-bend delete, muffler, and 3.5 inch pulley is perfectly safe and you will see about 30 hp improvement and won't experiance any knock problems.

Throwing a very small risk is all above, 3.4 inch pulley, dhp pcm and 93 or higher octane in northern states, if you live in Indiana, Ohio, or lower you will also want a 180* t-stat and colder plugs. - This is a very common stop point and will probably be mine. This will get you to 35-40 hp improvement. The risk is tied up in knock but shouldn't be a problem with those guidelines

I also plan on upgrading my rockers to 1.8's. That should get me to about 310 HP and also help reduce the chance of knock.

If you have access to a scanner you can be very safe.

If I do all of the above starting at stock, about how much am money am I looking at, assuming I can find a shop that will do it? I live in New Mexico; do I need the t-stat and plugs? Also, 93 octane gas is scarce to unavailable here; will I still realize 35-40 horses without it?
Thx.

Use a minimum of 91 octane AND purchase a scanner!!!! At the minimum get one from http://www.ls1m.com I recently got my scanner and found tons of KR problems with the safe mods I have done. I finally have it down to a max of 5 KR but that is still problematic. Getting an intercooler to fix that problem before the rockers.

Check out the the "Guide to 400+ HP on L67" here.
