Default 3800 conversion

So I have a 2001 Monte Carlo ss...N/a

A friend of mine has a 2001 Grand Prix and had bought a SuperCharger to put on... He then found out there was a ton of mods to be done to put it on.. I just talked to a tech @ www.jegs.com and he told me that There was very minimal Mods needed. who can talk to me about this conversion...

im shocked no one here has heard of this?

well looks like we need a new section on the forum... the "ask Phoenix Section"

what you are asking about is called a "Top Swap" you are basicly swaping the top end of a L67 (3800 SC) motor and putting it on a L36 (3800 NA) motor. this involves:
removal of the heads, lower intake manifold, SC and second crank pulley and tensioner... and swaping on to the NA block. you also need the computer from the SC car. and a few stores like ZZPerformance.com sell the wire harness adapters to modify your existing harness. you'll also need a new fuel pump, and map sensor. thats all i can think of at this time...

the other option is to use ZZP's lower intake manifold... this way you can still use the heads on your NA motor... but you'll still need the fuel pump and computer ect...
the reason for this is on the NA motor, the fuel injectors plug into the lower intake manifold... on the SC motor, they plug into the heads.

the blocks are basicly the same on both 3800 motors, the only diff is the NA motor has 9.4:1 compression and the SC has 8.5:1 compression. the higher compression of the NA block makes runing the SC on it a little more tricky cause it will have more Knock then the std SC motor, but... BUT the higher compression will yeild much more power....

If you look at my sig you will see the plan for my GTP... i am using a NA block and "top swaping" the SC parts on to it. because of the higher compression it will make much more power then if i had the same mods on the correct block.
