the 3.9 i want is from LKQ on ebay its low miles & low price plus i wont have to pay for shipping cause i live in same state as vendor...the money saved could be used on axels & tranny...my 3.4 is 108k miles its just a matter of time before it goes downhill...the 3.9 may be to new for upgrades right now but giving time, people will be building these up too...nice to read on this site how a guy was putting a supercharger on his 3.4 i love that !! totally crazy but its about time people did something with the 3.4..

Yeah, but look how long the 3100 and 3400 have been out- and they still only have 1 or 2 vendors supporting them. Unless that 3900 gets put into a ton of cars like the L67, and gets more (and bigger) vendors behind them, its likely going to struggle and have the same aftermarket the other 60* engines have had.

lol, no- not even close. The 3800 is completely different than any of the 60* GM engines (3100, 3400, 3500, 3900, 3.4 dohc, etc etc)- no hard parts from a 3800 will work on any of them.

i think you could make the 3.9L a decent performer if you did all the basic bolt ons (i know there aren't much anyways) and got a custom tune at a dyno shop. it won't be a pavement pounder by any means, but still respectable. plus, a few cosmetic upgrades to make it your own and you have a pretty nice car that can turn some heads. if you want the pavement pounder, pony up for the SS and mod that.
