my car now has a 3.1 in my 96 , but i was considering swaping it out for a 3.8 out of an 02 impala, good idea?, bad idea?........ if anyone has any advice it would be appreciated

Good idea. You'll need the motor, transmission, wiring harness from a 98-99 Z34, and both front axles(not sure if it's inner or outer) from the donor car.

No, the transmission in your car will require a lot of modifications to work. It would be easier and cheaper to just get a 4t65e. You have a 4t60e FWIW.

Turbo is very expensive, and if you want supercharger, just get one right away. Dont mess with the top swap, just drop in the L67 and the HD tranny.

You can try Morads. They have an ebay store and will ship to your door. Or you can check your local auto salvage yards for complete engine and trans set ups. I'd suggest going with an L32 S/C from an 04+ car. Better heat distribution from the S/C and more HP overall over the L67.

 

i got the motor already out of an 02 impala, i was told the trans i have now would work without any mods if i jus do the 3.8 swap. then would it be best to find the proper transmission when i do the supercharger?
