Can a 3.8 engine that is supercharged for the preivious montes be put in a 2006-2007 monte?

What would you guys think of this type of mod?

Which would be better the new ss engine or old ss supercharged engine in the new monte carlo engine bay?

Also what transmission should be put in as well if this could be done?

I know people like to chose newer technology, but from what I have heard about the 3.8 engine shupercharged it might not be a bad Idea to go backwards in this situation.

not a bad idea....... but if you do that get it more power to. since youll obviously have the engine out then i would tear it down and build it for 300-350 wheel horse power. it wouldnt be a bad idea either to also get a trans and tap shift outta the grand prix gxp. build the trans a bit (mostly second gear) and youd have a nice vehicle.

if it were me tho V8 all the way you just cant be the sound of em

it could be done but would require alot of modification becasue withthe new body style of car they als changed form obd2 to canbus interface thats why people are having probs putting the v8 in the older models

An older supercharged 3800 would be much cheaper to do, and has more bang for the buck in basic bolt ons. However, it will take all the basic bolt ons to make it competitive with a stock 5.3 v8.

Both use the 4t65HD, so that is what I would go with. Ideally, you would just get the whole powertrain still bolted together so you don't have to mess w/ it.

Its not like the new 5.3 V8 is really all that much newer technology- its still an overhead valve, 2 valve engine. Sure the LS4 has a a little bit newer technology in some aspects (like DOD), but most of it is virtually the same.

Could you please expand on that a bit? If you're talking 300-350whp, I would think the basic hard parts are going to be your main problem- ie input shaft and drive chain (especially if you're going to the track and running stickier tires). What part are you talking about upgrading, clutch packs or something?

IMO, that would be your only major obstacle. If you can get that sorted out, the rest should be cake.
