I agree with Zipper, Dredd make a post here with pics and perhaps a video, that would be an awesome swap to see.

I have also heard the hardest part about the swap would be the electronics...could be a big pita.

I would definitely consider keeping the v6 and doing either the top swap or the turbo...I'm coming up to 100K miles on my car with the turbo.

Or worse case scenario, find another v6 with loew miles, do the mods on the engine outside the car, then just drop it in....also note you will probably have to do some transmission mods for the added hp.

Default Dredd's 3800 to LS4 5.3L

Hey guys just go to my photo gallery and check out the photos. Most of my parts came from Morad Parts (Contact - Erik). Believe it or not the electronics wasn't that bad and most of the parts from the 2006 MC SS fit right on all the way down to the brake booster, accelerator pedal, complete dash, steering cloumn, wiring harness gromet from the engine compartment to dash all fit right in. My biggest problem which wasn't that big was replacing my brake pedal because the brake pedal positioning sensor had to mounted just right or I would not have brake lights (tight area to get into after already replacing the complete dash) I now have a 2001 MC SS with a 17K miles 5.3L LS4 engine with crazy torque and power. I'd have to put together a video, but check out the photos.

The pics are really cool Dredd, but I still would really encourage you to make a thread about this here on MCF. That way people can do a search for it much easier, even people searching on Google or something.

I hope you make a thread about it, and I must say, you did an excellent job with the swap! Very nice.

And if you make the thread very well, I will sticky it and put it in the how-to section!

if it was me i would go to a salvage yard ask them if they have a monte 06 07 model. that is a ss and see if you can get the sub frame which holds the engine and trans. get every thing out of it when droping the sub frame and engine and trans and haul it out of there when getting ready to do the work all you have to do is pull the trans engine as a whole disconect the original sub fram put in the new one drop in the ls4 and trans and wire harness and comp. then fine tune every thing

Hey, any chance you're still active on here? I'm in the middle of attempting this myself.
