Default 3.5 LZE to 3.9 LZ9 swap

Hey guys, I’m sure it’s been done before but I couldn’t find many examples here on the Monte Carlo forums.

Recently my completely stock 130K mile LZE dropped an exhaust valve seat in cyl #1 and completely pulverized the head, piston and cylinder wall and lost compression completely. While yes it’s possible to just get a new piston and head and do an at home dingleberry hone to the walls, at that point the price wouldn’t be too far off from just getting a junkyard 3.9 from an impala or uplander and swap that in but there are a few hiccups I’ve found along the way that I hope any of you might be able to help.

As far as many of you know the LZ9 is essentially a factory stroker version of the LZE and LZ4 (ie. different crank and pistons but same block and top end.) That being said, the fuel trim is obviously different than that of the 3.5L. I’m curious if in the love for saving money, would it be possible to use the stock LZE PCM on the LZ9 with a custom basemap from HPTuners since the PCM’s are the same part numbers- just different factory tunes. Or, since it’s a self learning ECU, would it trim itsself to compensate for the increased amount of air in the AFR?

Any kind of feedback is greatly appreciated! And no, not interested in LS swapping it lol
