The mechanic checked the oil pressure and level and said at this point it was low. They added to spec.

Then they cleaned the engine, added dye to the oil and did a leak check.

I examined the car while it was on the lift and we could not find any continued leaks. (I am not the professional, however)

It was obvious, however, that the oil that appeared on my engine was concentrated in the filter area. The mechanic opined that the lube place probably installed the filter wrong, and corrected it when I brought it back but declined to tell me so.

I have checked the area under my car several times in the past few days. There is nothing on the ground I could explicitly say is oil (It is very snowy and slushy in my area lately) unlike the first time when it was very obvious I was leaking oil.

Hopefully I am all set... I am still very skeptical though.

It's a shame we can't put more trust in some people to do a good job, but unfortunately, that's the way things are. I try to do most maintenance myself, and reluctantly take my baby into the shop when it goes over my skills. Hopefully your situation is resolved.

Let's hope that was the only issue. Try to avoid those quick lube shops in the future.

My 2000 SS went from no leaks to a puddle very suddenly, turns out the oil pressure switch sprung a leak, quick fix for 19 bucks.

Default Oil filter soaked in oil

I got a 2006 monte carlo lt 3.5l I've done two oil changes on it since I bought it and both times when I've gone to change the oil filter it's been covered in oil I use mobil 1 filters and oil. I also believe it's leaking from the oil pan it's self but I am not sure haven't had the time to clean the case and check it

Good read. My 2005 Monte has been leaking and I'm thinking it's the filter as well.
