Default 2004 - 3800 Monte SS

I am a new member around here but I've been cruising in my black MC for a while now.

I have a Monte Carlo SS - 2004 with a 3800 engine and I would like to add some get up to my performance. The only thing I've done so far is just dropped a K&N air filter in it. It already has 114,000 miles on it but I still love it. I have two twelve inch subs in the trunk so there is a added weight to the rear.

Does anyone have any suggestions for such a high mileage SS? I would prefer it to be as inexpensive as possible but would be able to spend maybe $250 give or take. Thank you for anyones input!

NA or Supercharged?

NA, you could do some ER rockers for that price.

SC, I'd probably go with headers or 1.9 modded stock rockers for that money.

What about for a little cheaper. Like say a 100 bucks? What could I do where I could see some significant improvement?

You can get the ER ratio rocker arms on clubgp.com/forum in the classified section for $200-250 shipped. If you got a set for $200, add on some valve cover gaskets and new bolts- and you're right at $250.

$100 and a significant improvement on a NA 3800 isn't going to happen. Personally, I can barely feel rockers, and those are supposed to add 15 hp.

A couple items I would consider for the ~$100 range- a tuned pcm, a powerlog, a 2.5" downpipe (although if you need a cat, it will be more).

I have an 04 NA SS love it to death too! Wish it was SC!!! Ok back to the point so when you say you droped in a K&N filter in did you buy an actual intake? For me the Wizair intake from ZZP performance gave it a nice touch.... Or you might want to look into getting a down pipe or ubend delete... Those two tend to help a decent amount on an NA and are not to bad price wise.... Try these sites!

www.wbodystore.com
www.zzperformance.com
www.3800performance.com

These sights have helped me tons parts wise. :P)

You aren't going to do much so cheaply. If you wanna make it quicker, seafoam it and take some weight out.

Under $100 isn't going to net you anything unless you make your own fenderwall intake.

Save up $500 and get the basics that's in a sticky for upgrading your engine.
