Default 2001 SS Transmission Issue

So today I was running some errands when my car started jerking real bad when I would give it any throttle and had very little acceleration, immediately after that my CEL came on and I took it to the shop to have it looked at. Turns out the diagnostics said it was a transmission related issue, such as "Torque converter staying engaged" or not engaging i dont really remember exactly. However I just drove it and it drove fine but after a while of driving it starts to shift hard, and when it goes to shift into another gear it hesitates going into the next gear. For example, it goes to shift at around 2500 RPM's and doesn't shift until around 3000 RPM's or so. Car has a brand new motor and a little over 200k on the odometer.
Anyone know what my issue is? Is it my Torque Converter?

Check your catalytic converter. After 200k miles it may be plugged. They tend to make the trans go wacky when they clog for some odd reason.

Wouldn't this cause a car to fail an emissions test when I got it inspected?

Only if the CEL was on at the time. I dont believe they still require a tail pipe test on OBDII cars.

Ahh thats true, I remember that now. Well I read all the symptoms a clogged cat would do to the car and I am having every single symptom so looks like its time for some new cats.

If the new cat doesn't solve your issue, which I don't think it will to be honest, it's either solenoids in your transmission that are bad, or the torque converter going bad. My car does the same thing, and I'm about to pull the motor and replace the solenoids and TC, I'll let you know the outcome lol

i think getting your cat looked at will probably resolve the issue, if not you may have some internal issues, but it doesn't really sound like it's and internal issue from what you've said.

Well My CEL came back on again and it started running like complete **** after about 1hr of driving it. So I ran it over to Autozone and they found the trouble code which was p0742...
Great... Looks like im putting the trans out after all..

It may be your PCS inside your tranny.
