Will a new egr valve fix this? I took mine off and cleaned it and the light went off for about a week then came back.

Not if something else is causing your ERG to clog & send a code ? Does your Monte have the factory `Cat ? It could be bad ?

It will go off for a little while when I clear it then come right back
