2001 Monte Carlo SS new PCM, looking for all info incase I missed any.
I recently had to get a new PCM for my 2001 SS and I was wondering besides the security relearn is there is anything that needs to be done to it after installation, so far its ran fine and idled much better except it has quit twice randomly within the first 10 miles, but the 50+ afterwards seem to be fine, and I don't wanna push it much more and it need something critical.

Yea, it has a perpetual check engine light on currently due to me replacing old problems (it was only $1000 as is buy from someone and a spark knock sensor has a low input, the behind o2 sensor is reading bad, etc.) but I will have it checked is it something I can do at say an autozone or something? Or can a dealer do it for free?

Autozone can't do a case / ckp learn, their system is just for reading codes AFAIK they can't even pull live data much less any more complicated functions.
A dealer can do it, but it's certainly not going to be free. You'll probably get charged an hour's labor unless you've got a mechanic friend who can do it on the side for less. Usually no one who spends hundreds or thousands of dollars on a tool to do this kind of stuff is going to give away its use for nothing.
It gets done via a tech 2 (or clone) or high end scan tool. IIRC there was a drive cycle that could trigger it too, but I could've swore it was ultra specific and was incredibly difficult to meet on public roads outside of a dyno.
Dont want to get you too far down that rabbit hole until we hear back what codes you've got.

If it already had a check engine light then it may or may not be the problem. Hard to tell without knowing what codes it had before and after.

is it possible to do the relearn with the temp sensor on the fritz? We put a new one on it before the new pcm because while replacing the radiator hose above it the old brittle I assume OE by appearance and wear plastic end of the sensor broke off, replaced it and still no gauge and the car I assume fail safe runs fan any time the key is in on position.
