No not at all. I'm learning also at the sametime. My mechanic who's a good friend of mine plugged his computer also to see if I was getting any codes and nothing came up also.
Sucks now driving on the highway with the rpms higher now. I have no cat and resonator lol

No 4th gear is common on our 4T65E's. This is more then likely your problem: No 4th Gear

The labor is going to cost a bit to fix because you have to rip the tranny apart.

I was going to give you the same link Zipper did. In 2003 they made some improvements to the tranny but for us pre-2003 guys we have to deal with this.

Mine is starting to get a little finicky - and lately I'm driving with my car in 3 almost constantly (I always do in the city anyways) but with drivers in my area you do a lot of lane changing and speed adjustments because people can't drive, meaning a lot of going in and out of 4th as you change speeds, accelerating wear on the 4th shaft. I'll deal with the lower MPGs for now until I can get my tranny built up,

You really should have started a new thread instead of taking over this one, but, we need to know more about your car/transmission.

Where did you get the work done?

What all did they do/replace?

Have you checked the tranny fluid level and the condition the fluid is in?

Once we receive more info, we can help you out better.
