2000 MC hard shifting
A friend of mine has a 2000 MC with 108K miles and over the last 6 months it's had an intermittent shifting problem. Once the engine/trans comes up to operating temp, it sometimes revs higher than normal before upshifting then shifts hard. He's flushed the transmission fluid, but no help. If it does this over several upshift cycles (i.e. starting out from a few stoplights in a row) he'll pull over, shut the engine off, restart, and drive away and the problem seems to go away. From reading some other posts, I've seen that changing the trans fluid filter may help or maybe the pressure control solenoid...any other advice? Is the pressure control solenoid something that can be accessed and changed just by removing the pan, or is this a job for the shop?

RE: 2000 MC hard shifting
i like this thread, i want toknow what to do in this situation, cause my car does this also. my cousin had a 2004 monte carlo SS, and at 74,000 miles, his car started doing that.....my car started at 58,000 miles, and now im at 67,000 miles. My cat is not clogged, and i did a tranny flush, and chaned the filter, still no diff.

RE: 2000 MC hard shifting
I know he's changed the fluid and I think the filter, but not 100% sure. I wasn't sure if this was a common problem or not. I've also been told this may be a bad pressure control soleniod? Can anybody confirm? Does anybody know how hard these are to change?
