wow guys! great info!

yup, I got the 200 installed. I guess I'm going to rebuild it (my wife likes to rebuild transmissions so thats her new task, hehe) and just use that.. I'm only looking for about 300-350hp in this build, nothing crazy.. I was under the assumption that anything over 300hp would tear this tranny apart. Guess I was wrong

Any suggestions on a good shift kit since I'll be in there? Sorry to sound so new to this, its my first GM build. Everything i've built up to now were honda/acura's. So i'm not sure of the good/bad parts out there for GM's.

yeah just find a tranny shop they will usually sell them, the 200 rebuild kit went for under 200 i believe and the 200 series is super easy to rebuild. I recommend looking into stall converters while she does that, you will want a new one. as far as horsepower on this tranny the rule of thumb was if you snap the tailshaft you have to much power. If your looking to drag race the car and you want a dependable swapable tranny... find yourself a powerglide 2 speed tranny they are bullet proof and match up with the 350's tranny mount i believe.

I had the trans-go in mine, little expensive but seemed to be the best to me.

Not looking to drag race at all in it.. It's really going to be my weekend car more than anything. So a good strong 350 oughta cut it.
