06 Monte 3.9 with these mods? Details below.
The 06 3.9 has 242HP stock which is descent. How much power do you think it would have after all these mods, cold air intake, cat back exhaust system, headers, ported heads and throttle body, and a pcm tune? thanks.

Hi Roblee,
How many miles on your Monte ? I'd guess around 275
My friend Space had one & the 3.9L is a great/powerful engine.
I know that it was quicker then his 05 Monte 3.8L.
Have you estimated the cost of all the mod's that you want to do ?
Have you had any issues with your 3.9L.
Keep the forum updated on what you do & it's improvements. Thanks

I agree with mike you'd probably still be under 300. Intakes and exhaust doesn't help much, its mainly the heads(never seen anyone port 3.9 heads, or the throttle body for that matter) throttle body and headers that'll give you gains.

Hi RatBuddy, I don't think so (?) I think they would have to be custom. There's not to many aftermarket parts for the 3.9L except a few companies have CAI, exhaust & tuners.

my opinion, the cost of custom made headers and custom port work will cost way to much for the minimal performance gains you would get. even with porting the heads i dont see you gaining much at all. big power with almost any v6 is done with forced induction/ nitrous. and to my knowledge there is no supercharger or turbo kits made for the 3.9 so again the custom fabrication to make a kit would be very expensive

Even so, it's impossible to give a ballpark on power when there are so few details. A few examples:
-headers: what primary size and length? What size outlet?
-ported heads: what are the flow rates at the various valve openings? In leui of that - what size valves and what kind of porting is being done?
-pcm tune- are you talking a canned vendor tune or a custom street/dyno tune? Is it tuned for premium or regular? Is it a safe tune or a max effort tune?
As turbo monte said, if you want big gains, boost is where it's at. If you're dead set on sticking NA, the key to most engines is a bigger cam and more compression (which can be achieved by shaving the heads to a small extent).
