RE: 00 ss supercharged
I would consider a turbocharger before a supercharger, myself. I believe the power gains are potentially higher, and an easier change than supercharger your 3.8, unless you were to swap to an L-67 engine, like mine. There is too many differences in the engines.

RE: 00 ss supercharged
no there actually arent that many diff's that would effect adding a blower...
ZZPerformance.com makes an "SS Kit" that lets you just replace your lower intake manifold, fuel rails, and PCM with the addtion of course of their SC.
you are right that the l36 has a few internal diff's then the l67. one of which is higher compression... this higher cr 9.4 vs 8.5 will yeild about 50hp more then the l67! so if you have both engines with same mods, the "top-swaped" (what they call this hybrid) will make much more power then the l67
in my GTP rebuild, im using an l36 low end (block pistions ect.) using my heads off the l67, and all the other parts. they all swap on that block. the higher compression is a bit more finiky but the power gain is well worth it.
if your looking to get your car in the low 13's a SC will be a good choice. if you want 12's or lower your best bet is a turbo. thing with a turbo (well any addon that will get you into 12's) is that you will be stressing the trany really bad. Low 13's are fine on the stock trany with moderation and common sence.
