hey i have quite a few scratches in the hood of my car mainly form the amount of chip truck drivers we have in this area
so i was wondering if any of yall had an recomendation on a good product for removing scratches form my paint also a light haze that was left but the crappy body shop that repainted the passenger side of my car thanks in advance

 

Some people swear by that color wax especaily on a black car (I think Turtle Wax makes it). If I were you I would get an orbital buffer - like a porter cable. And get the Meguiers Mirror Glaze Pro line. They make different polishes that have more aggressive cutting to get deeper scratches out. If you dont want to go to all that trouble Meguires makes a product called scratch X, but I'm not sure how well it will work on deep scratches.

 

Just picked up Mothers Scratch Remover for surface scratches (at least that's what it syays on the bottle). If it warms up enough tomorrow (currently 7 C or about 46 F outside)[&:], I hope to give the stuff a try. Will let you know how it works. Lasting power will be a whole other topic.........

Well finaly the weather has co-operated long enough so that I could get out and try the Mothers Scratch remover.
Can't say I'm all that impressed. It made a ver small difference to a surface scratch I have and did absolutely nothing to a deeper set of scratches on my rear bumper. So I don't think I would recommend this stuff, I know I certainly woun't be buying any more.

Looks like I may have to get some rubbing compund for the deeper scratches.
I'll have to check out the Meguiers stuff.

I think thats stuff only work on small fine scratches that barely got into the clear coat. Deep scratches mean more work. There usually isn't any miracles in bottles.

 

That sounds about right. As I said it seemed o work not to bad on the minor scratch but forget about anything else. Sometimes you just have to try it out and see what happens.
