Default Rubber Seal Around The Windshield

Anyone got any tips for removing bug guts from the rubber seal around the windshield?

The trip to/from MI last weekend my '06 LTZ got a few bugs splattered on it. I was out moving it in the barn this morning and noticed I'd left the windshield dirty. The GM glass cleaner I have did a good job on the glass but the bug guts on the rubber seal are almost impossible to get off and it's easy to damage the seal if you're not careful.

Any tips?

I'm jealous, it's still way too cold here for bugs, about 30 degrees with a steady breeze between 25-30 mph.

I usually did fine when I washed the car at home, just soaked the rubber and grills with some soapy water and then after awhile a sponge usually took 'em off.

bounce dryer sheets will tak esome if not most off for ya.

with out scratching anything.

Also just a hint the next time ya take a road trip in Love bug season use some of the basic clear non flavored pam cooking spray. it is a old trick from the R.V. side of the world. But it wont harm the paint and will not allow them to stick either LOL

Do they fry up pretty good after you soak them in PAM cooking spray?

Thanks for the tip.

PS. It's nowhere near last weekend's temps this weekend.

Make a "Tool" by sanding down the edges of a rectangular paint stirring stick to wind-up with a rounded-off edges scraping tool. Then, all you need is a rag and a can of WD-40.

Shoot a little WD-40 on the area to be cleaned. Scrape it off with the fabbed-up wooden tool. Wipe-off the tool on a paper towel ... finish scraping off that stuff thats "Bugging" you.

Once you get the knack on how much WD-40 to shoot on the bugs ... you'll be cleaning that surround right down to the rubber and not leaving any residue.
I learned this technique from an Auto Detailer that uses this technique on some pretty expensive High-Line Cars.
He tells me that the WD-40 Cleans-up with a wipe-off of parer towel and a follow-up with a paper towel damp with Windex.
